Sarah Phillips Miles, 83, of Eleanor Drive, died Tuesday, January 2, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House following a two month illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member, with Pastor JC Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park then will proceed back to the church fellowship hall to receive friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miles was born December 5, 1930, in York County, S.C., to Ira Lee Vernon Phillips and Bertha Amerson Phillips. She was a department manager for Wal-Mart. At her church she was a choir member for 55 years and Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. . In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Clyde Miles Sr.; grandson, Robbie Scott Miles; brothers, Boyce John Phillips, Vernon Phillips Jr., and William Frank Phillips; and sisters, Marion Elizabeth Phillips Williams and Mavis Allene Mackey.
Surviving are her son, JC Miles Jr. and wife Dianne of Reeds; daughter, Sarah Ann Miles Gallimore and husband Marvin of Lexington; grandchildren, Jay Miles and wife Nikki of Lexington, Brent Gallimore of Winston-Salem, Farrah Gallimore Cox and husband Nick of Lexington, Dustin Gallimore of Lexington; Jason Miles and wife Gabby of Lexington and Jeremy Miles and wife Courtney of Lumberton; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Phillips and wife Pat of Lancaster, SC; and sister, Margie P. Lyles of Lancaster, SC; sister-in-law, Edith Phillips of Lancaster; and brother-in-law, John Mackey of Lancaster, SC.
