James Scott Briggs, 49, of Keely Lane, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 7. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Revs. Billy Pearson, Freddie Moretz and Benn Fleming. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 11, at Davidson Funeral Home. Scott was born October 9, 1967 in Davidson County to Jimmy and Mary Lou Biesecker Briggs. He was a graduate of Central Davidson High School. He was an electrician for Pro Electric and had worked with his parents at Cooks Barbecue. Scott enjoyed sharing his time and knowledge of the outdoors with his family and friends. He especially loved being a father and an uncle to the children. He also loved his fur babies, Cookie and Lucy. He is survived by his wife, Amy Warfford Briggs of the home; his son, Caleb Briggs; his daughter, Leigha Briggs; his sister, Cindi Rathbone and husband, Greg, of Stokesdale; his brother, Phil Briggs and wife, Kim, of Lexington; his nephew, Zack Briggs; his niece, Skyler Briggs; and his mother in law, Elaine Warfford.
