On April 17, 2012 a rainbow colored the sky as Sergeant Larry Wayne Hepler stepped into Heaven. His sky blue eyes were surely filled with tears as he got his first glimpse of his sweet Lord and his new home.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (April 21, 2012) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Mike Fritts. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday (April 21, 2012) from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home.
He was born on the Hepler Farm in Davidson County on October 9, 1940. And now is strolling Heaven’s streets with his dad, Charles Howard Hepler.
Waiting to join him in Heaven is his wife Myra Brank Hepler. They began their journey together on October 8, 1996 and knew they had finally found their soul mate (unless Duke and UNC were playing!) And “Through the Years” what a ride they enjoyed together…from traveling the country in his tanker or their camper, to watching Atlanta Braves baseball and NASCAR and loving on their dog Rusty. Their hearts had found home and “Baby“ will be missed with every breath until she can meet him in Heaven.
Larry will be waiting on the rest of his family to join him one day in Heaven. His mother, Mildred Lash Hepler and his brother, Roger Dale Hepler and his wife Fredia. His son, Larry “Todd” Hepler and his wife Christi, and their children Jeremy, Megan and Dylan. Also his youngest son, Jeffrey Wayne Hepler and his wife Genie, and their children Robert and J.T.. And a daughter, Tina Irby and her husband Chip. And many nieces and nephews, great nieces and a great nephew who thought “Untle Wawwy” was the greatest!
Sgt. Hepler proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. And also joyfully served his Lord as a Gideon. He was the “always-starched and neatly-ironed“ owner and operator of Master Kleen Dry Cleaners of Lexington. He then spent many years keeping America’s roads hot while he drove a truck for HFCS. He retired from PGT industries in 2009.
“Pop”, “Dad”, “Baby” and “Brudder” will be missed greatly…especially his bright smile. His loving and tender heart and kind and gentle spirit will leave a mark on our lives forever. He finished his assignment here on earth as a faithful man of God. There’s no doubt what his hope is for those of us left behind…onward Christian soldiers!
Larry would be happy if instead of flowers, all memorials were made to help two of the ministries he loved so much. Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 591, Lexington, NC 27293 and Gideons International, Davidson South Camp, PO Box 1316, Denton, NC 27239.
