Sharon Hicks

Sharon Shrewsbury Hicks, 61, of Rosewood Drive, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, following a six month illness. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Hicks was born October 25, 1952, in Mercer County, W. Va., to Hobert E. Shrewsbury and Neta Rose Wiley Shrewsbury. She was employed at Council Craftsmen and formerly helped her husband, John, with his floor covering business and later was a stay at home mother to raise her children. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Connie Shrewsbury. Surviving are her husband, John Dale Hicks of the home; son, Timmy Brigman of New Orleans, La.; daughter, Amanda Gail Hicks of the home; grandchildren, Brittany and Christy Metcalf; and brothers, Glen Shrewsbury and wife Maggie, Creed Shrewsbury and wife Betty, Ray Shrewsbury and wife, Glenda, all of Lexington and Blaine Shrewsbury of Bluefield, W.Va.
