Sharon Leigh Temple Shoaf, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, December 26, 2014. She was born December 12, 1949, in Lexington to George Allen Temple and Berniece Lea Brady Temple. She was a 1968 graduate of Lexington Senior High School.
She was married to Larry Dean Shoaf, the love of her life, in 1968. They were directed into missions when their son and daughter were very young. They served with Missionary Flights International, in West Palm Beach, Fl., where she taught kindergarten in Palm Springs. A few years later, they joined the staff of Fairhaven Ministries in Roan Mountain, Tn. In 1986, they returned to Davidson County and Sharon worked as administrative assistant at Faith Alliance Church for seven years. She then worked at Associates in Christian Counseling in Winston-Salem prior to serving as Executive Director of Alpha Pregnancy Support in Lexington. She accepted a staff position at First Alliance Church where she has been employed the past 16 years. A member of First Alliance, she taught Sunday school and Ladies Bible studies all her adult life. She was active and served in Alliance Women. Her love for music led her to participate as a member of the church worship team and church choir.
She enjoyed writing and most recently, posting on her blogspot. Following her passion to write a book, God directed her to author and publish her children’s book in 2010 entitled AARONAUTICS, featuring five airplanes. The book was dedicated to her grandson, Luke Shoaf, and was illustrated by her son, Mike Shoaf.
She enjoyed being “Nana” to her four grandchildren. They taught her much as she attempted to point them to Jesus. She also enjoyed riding in her husband’s specialty cars (built by him) and especially his 1927 Chrysler Roadster.
Sharon desired to be an encourager and to direct people to her Lord where they would find peace and joy. Her favorite Bible verse was John 10:10 that states Jesus Christ “came to give us abundant life”. Her hope was that “no one would miss the grace of God” according to Hebrews 12:15.
She is survived by her husband Larry D. Shoaf of the home; son, Mike Shoaf and wife, Karyn, of Crandall, Texas; daughter, Jamie Beth Shoaf Bailey and husband, Brad, of Cornelius; grandchildren, Luke Shoaf and Marleigh Anna Shoaf of Crandall, Texas, Journey Bailey and Jedidiah Bailey of Cornelius; three brothers, Allen Temple (Faye), Steve Temple (Carolyn) of Lexington, and Bob Temple of Murphy; one sister, Linda Coppley (Joe) of Lexington; sister-in-law, Henrietta Prince (Jimmy) of Lexington; several nieces and nephews, cousins, local and far away friends.
A celebration of her life will take place 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, at First Alliance Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Paul Titus officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be directed to First Alliance Church Building Fund in her memory: First Alliance Church Building Fund, 1370 Arnold Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
