Sharon Darnell Burkhart Smith, 77, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022.

A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Clyde Akers officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home prior to the service.

Sharon was born on February 23, 1945, in Davidson County, to the late Arvil Wilson Alexander Burkhart and Francis McCulloch Burkhart. She worked for most of her life at Dakota Cotton Mills and was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church. Sharon loved doing crafts and anything artistic, enjoyed gardening, playing Scrabble, and loved animals. She was known that above all else she loved her family and her church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband, Tolbert Eugene Smith Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Teresa “Tink” Wallace (Bobbie Nicole) of SC, Windy Berrier (Charles) of Lexington; sons, James Wallace of Lexington, and Joe Wallace (Melody) of SC; brother, Artie Herbert Burkhart of Lexington; sister, Sheila Dawn Burkhart Cannon of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Brandon Berrier (Tiffni), Amber Decker (Justin), Cesalee Brannon (Marion), Skylar Wallace, Jade Burleson (James), Justin Wallace, and Ian Strunk (Molley); and three cherished pets; an African Gray Parrot, Rambo, a dog, Marley, and a puppy, JuJu.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 214 Hillcrest Court, Lexington, NC 27292.
