Sharon White

August 18, 1952 — January 23, 2010

After a three year battle with breast cancer, Sharon Lynn White, 57, of Welcome, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at the home of her sister, Patricia. She was born in Lexington to James W. (deceased) and Gladys Leonard White. Sharon was educated in the Davidson County school system, graduating from North Davidson High School in 1970. Early in her career she served as a teaching assistant for the hearing impaired at Welcome Elementary and later as an administrative assistant in several Lexington businesses and organizations. She joined the Welcome Fire Department in her teens and served as the secretary-treasurer until her health demanded she retire. Always one to serve, she was constantly involved with worthy causes in her beloved community of Welcome. Ms. White is survived by her mother and brother Jamie of the home; sister Patricia Richardson of Lexington; brother Keith and sister-in-law Tracy of the Reeds community; and long-term special friend and companion Regg Lyle of Welcome. Additionally nephews Devin, Logan and Hunter will miss their Aunt Sha-Sha and the love and attention she showered on them through the years. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome. The generous outpouring and kindness of the church and community cannot be more appreciated by the family, and as such suggests, in lieu of flowers, Sharon be remembered through contributions to Hospice of Davidson County, Davidson County Cancer Services, Inc., or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.
