Shelba Jean Flowers Barrett 70 of Clemmons, NC passed away Sunday September 8, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Shelba Barrett was born November 8, 1942 in Catawba County to John and Zettie Flowers. She graduated from St. Stephens High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. She retired from Catawba County Schools where she taught at Sweetwater Elementary and later worked in the Catawba County Schools Central Office guiding new teachers and coordinating the K-12 Arts program. She was a member of St. Stephens ELCA in Hickory and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Welcome. While in Hickory she was active with the Hickory Community Theater and the Catawba County Historical Association. After moving to Clemmons she became involved with WELCA at Our Saviour’s Lutheran. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her daughters, Franlyna Charles and husband, James of Lexington, NC and Trese-Ann Mount and husband, Stephen of Summerville, SC, two grandsons, Ethan John Mount and Jack Derrill Mount, one sister, Anita Isenhour and husband Dean of Hickory. Also surviving are nieces and nephew, Deanna Bradshaw and husband Mark, Susan Hemphill and husband Todd and Johnny Isenhour and wife Pebbles, many great nieces and nephews, ex-husband Wayne Barrett and special friend Alex Bryan. Celebrations of her life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, WELCA, P.O.
