Shelby Dean Brinkley

Shelby Dean Carpenter Brinkley, lovingly known as Dean, passed away on March 3, 2026, in Forsyth County at the age of 84.

Born on March 29, 1941, in Virginia, Dean was the cherished daughter of the late James L. Carpenter and Cassie Shinault Carpenter. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness each day.

Dean was best known for her love of baking and the warmth she shared through her kitchen. Her lemon pie was a treasured favorite among family and friends—always requested, always enjoyed, and always made with love. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her loved ones, creating lasting memories around the table, and appreciating life’s simple blessings.

In addition to her parents, Dean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Glenn Brinkley; two brothers, Clarence Carpenter and Ray Carpenter; and her sister, Helen Sisk.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter, Lisa Beechy (Harley); her son, Darrell Brinkley (Lorie); her three grandchildren, Selena, Madi, and Rebekah; five great-grandchildren; and numerous special friends and members of her church family who were blessed by her kindness and gentle spirit.

A funeral service to honor Dean’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Testimonial Baptist Church of Thomasville at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior beginning at 12:00 p.m., at the same location. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Dean’s legacy of love, faith, and sweet hospitality will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
