Shelby Jean Crotts York, age 87, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, North Carolina.
Born on July 31, 1937, in Davidson County, NC, Shelby was the daughter of the late Lawrence Odell Crotts and Blanche Virginia Louya Crotts. She dedicated 21 years of service as an inspector with PPG before her retirement. Shelby was a longtime member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ, where her faith and love for community were central to her life.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19th in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Rev. Darrell Sluder officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, June 18th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Willis York, in 1981; her brothers Larry, Tony, Gerald, Craig, and Jerry Crotts; and her sister, Janice Shaw.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters: Sharon McCulley (John), Paula Sparrow (Scott), Hillary York-Sartin (Pat), Jill Allen (Joe), Shana Epley (Gerald), Melissa Hughes (Dale), and Glenna Tussey (Gene). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shelby will be remembered for her deep love of family, her quiet strength, and the lasting legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
