Liedy “Shell” Crotts, age 79, of East Arbor Avenue in Lexington, NC passed away Thursday January 22, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice Home. A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Second Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Bill Shrout and Shells niece, the Rev. Dr. Anna P. Straight. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, NC. Mr. Crotts was born on May 20th 1935 in Lexington, NC to Everett Crotts, and Wilma Bowers Crotts. He was a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries. He was a member of Lexington Memorial Masonic Lodge 473, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite of Charlotte, and Oasis Shrine in Charlotte; and also a member of the Lexington Shrine Club. At his church he was a member of Sco Burkhart Sunday school class for 58 years where he served as president and secretary of the Sunday school class also served 21 years as the class treasurer. Also at his church he served as an Elder Emeritus. Mr. Crotts was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and a friend to all. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Frederick. Surviving are the love of his life, his loving wife of 62 years, Loretta Young Crotts of the home; son, Don Crotts and wife Patricia of Lexington; daughters, Debbie Frederick of Wilmington and Karen Crotts Adkins and husband Larry of Lexington; three grandchildren, Stefan P. Frederick of Raleigh, Crissy M. Crotts and Tammy Snyder and husband Jeff, all of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Carrie Mitchell and Aaron Snyder; and brother, Dr. Everette B. Crotts and wife Heather of Charleston, SC and Danny A. Crotts and wife Ann of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Second United Church of Christ Sco Burkhart Sunday school class or the church memorial fund, 330 North Church Street, Lexington, NC 27292; or Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
