Shelly Roberts

Shelly Nicole Wills Roberts, 50, of Dover Road, died Thursday, February 16 at Hinkle Hospice House.   A memorial service will be 3pm Saturday, February 25 at First United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe.   The family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45pm Saturday prior to the memorial service.   Shelly was born July 18, 1966 in Dallas, Texas to Jack Wills and Gay Frances Smith.  She was a graduate of High Point University and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School class and United Methodist Women.  She was a research director for Entercom Radio for sixteen years and loved working in radio.  She was a loving mother and GiGi.  She was preceded in death by her step-father, Bob Smith; her grandmother, Juanita “Johnnie” McBrannon; and her grandfather, Crawford Wills.   She is survived by her mother, Gay Frances (G.F.) Smith of the home; her father, Jack Wills, and wife, Mary, of Alexandria, VA; her son, Matthew James Hammonds and wife, Kaley, of Lexington; her daughter, Rachel Allison Roberts of Lexington; her 101 year old grandmother, Lois Wills of Kilgore, TX; her brothers, Todd Wills of San Francisco, CA, and Davis Wills of New Orleans, LA; her sister, Corey Wills of Whidbey Island, WA; her beloved grandchildren, Kallie Nicole Hammonds, Tobias James Hammonds, and Everly Ann Hammonds; her longtime friend, Melissa Pendry, and her godmother, Rose Mary Swartwood.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S. Main Street, Lexington NC 27292, Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 or to the donor’s choice.   The family would like to thank Hospice of Davidson County for their love and support.
