Sherman Ray Scott

August 18, 1936 — December 10, 2013

Sherman Ray Scott, 77, of Adams Street, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Lexington Health Care. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Reformed Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home. Mr. Scott was born August 18, 1936, in Davidson County, to Benjamin “Ben” Harrison Scott and Cora Elizabeth Younts Scott. He was retired from Philpott Furniture where he had worked in the finishing room. He also attended Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers; and a son-in-law, Johnny Gobble. Surviving are his loving wife, Betty Byerly Scott of the home; sons, Derek Ray Scott and wife Penny and Destry Shannon Scott, all of Lexington; daughter, Alana Scott Gobble and boyfriend Scott Darnell of Lexington; three grandchildren, Matthew Scott, Amberlie Gobble, and Chelsea Scott; four great-granddaughters; special nephew, Benny Scott; and special friend, Charlie Owens.
