Sherman "Speedy" Paul Lohr

Sherman Paul “Speedy” Lohr, 77, of S.P. Lohr Drive, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at his home.   The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with the Revs. Billy Pearson, Kenneth Mashburn and Pastor Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010, at the funeral home and other times at the home.   Speedy was born April 4, 1932, in Davidson County, to Brantley Lohr and Lily Jane Swing Lohr. He was owner/operator of Speedy Lohr BBQ and had served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Douglas Lohr; and brothers, John, Nobel, Bob and Wade and sister, Barbara Smith.   Surviving are his wife, Joyce Knighton Lohr of the home; sons, Rodger Lohr and wife, Lisa, and Randy Lohr and wife, Amy, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Kristy Bowers and husband, Gary, Paul Lohr, Caroline Lohr and Luke Lohr;  great grandson, Christopher Lohr; brother, Jerry Lohr and wife, Barbara, of Lexington; sisters, Mary Jo Webb of Arkansas and Ruby McCarn and husband, Leroy, of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Lib Lohr and Mary Elizabeth Lohr, both of Lexington; and brothers-in-law, Louie Smith and Don Leonard.   The family would like to thank his caregivers, Mary, Lisa, Amy, Tina, Cheryl, Monika and Beth.   Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
