Sherry Denise Mangum

Sherry, age 68, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

She was born on July 1, 1958, in Guilford County, North Carolina. Sherry was a loving, caring, and selfless mother, grandmother, and daughter who devoted her life to the people she loved. She will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Sherry retired from Forsyth Medical Hospital after many years of dedicated service. Outside of work, she cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed cheering on her team. Above all, her greatest joy was the time she shared with the people she loved.

Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved stepfather, Bill Martino; her brother, Alvin Mangum; and her sister, Tammy Mangum.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her son, Alex Mangum; her mother, Loretta Martino; her brother, Jeff Mangum and Linda Bulletman; and her grandchildren, Addison, Tucker, and Juliette. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her love and kindness.

Though she is no longer with us, Sherry’s love, laughter, and memories will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Union Grove Baptist Church, with T.W. Bailey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Church.

May she rest peacefully, knowing how deeply she was loved.
