Mrs. Shirley Ann Garrison James, 71, of Swicegood-Waitman Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at her home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Chapel, Lexington, with Rev. Grady James officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born on September 16, 1955, in Davidson County, to the late Earnest Boyd and Shirley Janice Fritts Garrison.

Mrs. James enjoyed raising vegetables and canning. She loved working in her flowers, cooking, and baking. Shirley was a hard worker and could always be found doing something. Her family was her pride and joy.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee James; two siblings, Dawn Swing and Charles Garrison; and her grandmother, Daisy Fritts.

Survivors include her two daughters, Andrea Swicegood (Corey) and Julie Sink (Scotty); four grandchildren, Emily Wright (Dylan), Jake Swicegood, Trad Sink, and Hali Sink (Chandler); and a great-grandson on the way.
