Shirley Lyalls Goodman

Shirley Lyalls Goodman 70 of Linwood Southmont Road, Lexington went home to be with her Lord and Savior, March 19, 2010 at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a long struggle with cancer.   A Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Monday March 22, 2010 at Southside Baptist Church where she was a member conducted by her son, Rev. Dr. Joseph Van Goodman and Rev. Leon Little.  Burial to follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Sunday from 5-7 pm and at other times at the home.   Mrs. Goodman was born November 25, 1939 in Ashe County to Wiley Lyalls and Effie Mash Lyalls. She was a retired seamstress with Sew Special. She was a very active member of Southside Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and with various groups and also was the Sunday School Secretary. Her parents and a brother, Bryce Lyalls preceded her in death.   Surviving; her husband, Rev. Joseph Elwood Goodman of the home; one son, Joseph (Joey) Van Goodman of the home; her beloved pet Bandit; one brother, Robert (R.H.) Hilton Lyalls and wife Mary of West Jefferson; two sisters, Ermal Killen and her husband Wayne of West Jefferson and Alene Miller of Winston Salem.     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
