Shirley Mcclure Grubb

Shirley McClure Grubb, 71, of Lynda Lane, Welcome, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at her home after six months of declining health. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Center United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Clay J. Morgan and Doug Hochmuth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Grubb was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Gaston County to Woodrow McClure and Emma Austin McClure. She was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta McClure. She attended Sacred Heart College in Belmont and was a member of the Winston-Salem Business Women Association and the Welcome Garden Club. She was a retired secretary for Smith Bagley. Surviving are her mother, Emma Austin Ferguson of Thomasville; her husband, Donald Reid "Don" Grubb of the home; a son, E. Brian Grubb and his wife, Ginger, of Welcome; a daughter, Joy Grubb Jones of Welcome; a brother, J. Clifford Ferguson of Thomasville; and three granddaughters, Kelli Tesh and her husband, Steven, Kerri Grubb and her fiancée, Eric Barker, and Melody Gutierrez and her husband, Jesus, all of Welcome. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of granddaughter Kelli Tesh, 228 Lincoln St. Memorials may be directed to Center United Methodist Church Christian Fellowship Center, 186 Center Church Road, P.O.
