Shirley Davis Leonard, 60 of Tyro Rd., Lexington died Monday at 6:13 PM at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. The funeral service will be Thursday June 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Leonard was born in Davidson County on June 5, 1946 to Arnold Hillery Davis and Bertha Jarvis Davis. She was retired from Lexington Home Brands Plant 2 and a member of New Life Freewill Baptist Church. Her parents, brothers, Don Eller; Jerry Davis and Arnold Hillery Davis, Jr. preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, Connie Lee Leonard of the home; son, Keith Laxton and wife Janie of Lexington and daughter Lorie James and husband Jerry of Lexington. Grandchildren, Bryan Laxton; Tyler Grooms; Tori Grooms; Step grandchildren, Wayne Swanson and Scott Swanson; Step great grandchildren, Josh Huffman and Chase Swanson and sister, Diane Miller and husband Doug of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Lorie James, 253 Tyro Rd. Apt. 2.
