Shirley Ann Kirby Oakley

January 25, 1940 — June 18, 2006

Shirley Ann Kirby Oakley, 66, of Brian Center Nursing Home and formerly of Ninth Street Extension, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at the Brian Center Nursing Home after declining health of several months. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Revs. Herman Powell and Cecil Robinson. Mrs. Oakley was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Macon County, Ga., to LouBelle Baldwin. She attended Heavens Gate Full Gospel Church. She was a certified nursing assistant, having worked at Landmark Nursing Home, as well as in private home care. Surviving are three sons, Michael E. Wall and his wife, Bettina, of Salisbury, Jack Fernando Gebe of Welcome and Bobby W. Gebe and his wife, Christine, of Tyro; three daughters, Toni Johnson and her husband, Hughlin, of Lexington, Teresa Bryson and her husband, Kenneth, of Asheville, and Sharon Norris and her husband, Martin, of Tyro; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, and at other times at the respective homes of her children. Memorials can be made to the Cancer Patient Support Program, Comprehensive Care Center, c/o Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.
