Shirley Owney

Shirley Lohman Owney, age 80 of Homestead Drive, Lexington, died Friday August 26, 2011, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A graveside inurnment service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31 at the National Cemetery Columbarium in Salisbury, NC. Mrs. Owney was born September 1, 1930, in Loraine County Ohio to Sherly Louis Lohman and Vera Womack Lohman. She attended First Pentecostal Church Holiness Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Purple Heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Major Holman Edsol Owney; and a granddaughter, Jordon Kmentt. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Owney of Linwood, Gerda Bowman and husband, Mac, of Greenville SC; four sons, Konrad Kmentt and wife, Teresa, of Welcome, Karl Kmentt of Linwood and Waldemar "Kim" Kmentt of Hawaii; grandson; one step daughter, Janice Rayburn and husband, Billy Joe, of Tinity; one step son, William (Bill) Owney and wife, Patricia, of Texas; seven grandchildren, Corey Owney of Lexington, Alex Kmentt of Wilmington, Jonathen Owney of Texas, Megan Kmentt of Welcome, Laura Vanek of Washington DC, Adam Parrish of Pennsylvania and Anna Kmentt of Maine and six great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends at home.
