Shirley Butts Shafer

Mrs. Shirley Jane Butts Shafer, 81, of Pinewood Drive, passed away Tuesday, September 3, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Shafer was born February 21, 1938 in Dunkirk, NY to Frank S. Butts and Julia Ann Barker Butts.

She retired from Metal Factory, having worked as a machine operator. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Shafer; her son, John Barger of Paris; and four brothers.

She is survived by her sons, Ron Barger of Memphis, TN and Larry Barger of Lexington; her daughters, Susan Day of Granite Falls, and Julie Hege of Kernesville; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
