Shirley Powers Willis, age 71, of West 7th Avenue, Lexington passed away Wednesday (February 16, 2011) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday (February 19, 2011) at Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday night and at other times at the home.
Shirley was born in Dillon County, SC, January 15, 1940 to Dewey Powers and Elberta Lee Powers. She was a homemaker and a member of Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Geraldine Thompson and three brothers; McKinzie Powers, Raeford Powers and Dewey Powers, Jr.
Surviving are; husband, Franklyn T. Willis of the home; one daughter, Shirl W. Sumner and husband Steve of Trinity; two sons, Franklyn (Dewey) T. Willis and girlfriend Edith of Thomasville, Dwayne J. Willis and Fiance’ Cindy of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Kelly Cooper and wife Nikki, David Willis and wife Jessica, Billy Willis and wife Jessica, Steven Willis and wife Tiffany, Zachary Sumner, Kevin Willis and Jamie Easter; five great-grandchildren, Kenyon, Jayden, Kirsten, Madelyn and Logan; five sisters, Ruth Alder and husband Bill of High Point, Margaret Ryder and husband Doug of Darlington, SC, Myrtlee Turner of Thomasville, Betty Bowman of High Point and Delmar Robinson and husband Roger of Thomasville; four brothers, Woodrow Powers and James Powers both of Trinity, Lonnie Powers and wife Doris of Mullins, SC and Dean Powers and wife Lula of Thomasville.
