Shirley Atkins Younts

Shirley Younts, 86 passed away June 30, 2023 at her home, surrounded by family.  Mrs Younts was born February 1st, 1937 in Davidson County to Henry Garfield and Virginia Saltz Atkins.  She spent her whole life in Lexington and on July 4th 1954 married the love of her life Jacob Bryce Younts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bryce, sisters Betty Holcomb and Peggy Caldwell, and brother Henry “Jim” Atkins.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Debbie Younts Keith, of Lexington, sister Katherine Thompson of Lexington, grandchildren Jacob Wayne Keith of Lexington and Sarah Keith Beck (Mike) of Huntersville.  Four beautiful great grands Madison Brooke, “Bella” Victoria, Charlotte Ann and little Emma Jean.

She was the caregiver for many.  Known as the “Florence Nightingale” of the family, she was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma and will be missed by all her family.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 5th at 1:00 PM in the Lexington City Cemetery conducted by Rev Scott Slaughter.  The family will greet friends at Davidson Funeral Home at 12:15-12:45 prior to the graveside service.
