Sid "Sonny" Biesecker

January 4, 1951 — October 24, 2023

Sidney Alan Biesecker, affectionately referred to as Sonny by his family and friends, passed suddenly at his home on Tuesday morning October 24th, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday, October 30 at Tyro Methodist Church, by the Rev. Randy Foster.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home.

He was born on January 4th, 1951 to Ernestine Jordan Biesecker and Sidney Lewis Biesecker.  Sonny was a 1969 graduate of Lexington Senior High School.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Elon College in 1973 and was a 1991 graduate from the University of Texas Graduate School of Banking.  Sonny started his career in 1974 as a management trainee at Industrial Federal Bank (now HomeTrust Bank) and retired as President in 2015 after 41 years of service.  During that time, he served on many boards/associations and was deeply honored and blessed to be part of the lives of the many people he served and worked with.

An avid golfer and fellow lover of the game, he spent a lot of his time playing golf at Sapona where he developed great friendships that lasted a lifetime.  Sonny also loved to work and took great pride in his yard and home.  He was always doing something to make sure his loved ones’ lives were full, clean, and comfortable.  And above all, he loved his family and adored his two grandsons, Sidney and Charlie.  He loved taking them to the pool, the lake or to the beach in the summers and the occasional after-school Dunkin’ Donuts as a special treat.  He will forever be a loving husband, father, son, brother and doting Papaw.

Sonny was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his younger brother Charles Lewis Biesecker who he missed so much.  He is survived by his wife Karen Ritchie Biesecker, son Mark and wife Shannon, his two precious grandsons Sidney and Charlie, nephews Michael and Matthew (Amanda), niece Kellie and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  We can’t leave out his golfing/Sapona family who meant so much to him and brought him so much joy over the years.  And lastly, his loyal dog of 9 years, Elvis, who followed him everywhere.

You were taken too suddenly and too soon, but will forever live on in our hearts and memories.  We love you so much!

A special thanks to all our family and friends who have shown their love and support in this difficult time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Home Solutions of Davidson County, 21 W. 2nd St, Lexington NC 27292, Tyro Methodist Church, 4484 S.
