Stamey Eugene Davis

Stamey Eugene Davis, 79, of Wyndham Court, High Point, formerly of Brown Street, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after declining health and serious illness of two weeks. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Revs. Ted Tuggle and Thomas Tuggle. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. Mr. Davis was born June 23, 1927, in Davidson County to James Franklin Davis and Emma Dunning Davis. He was a member of Dutchman Creek Baptist Church and was a past treasurer and served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was retired from Waste Management and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Gibson Davis, on Aug. 8, 1996, and a grandson, Tyler Jonathan Davis. Surviving are his wife, Jane Hinkle Davis of the home, whom he married Sept. 18, 1999; three sons, Steve Davis and his wife, Julie, of Salisbury, Jim Davis and his wife, Becky, of Archdale and Tommy Davis and his wife, Joyce, of Lexington; one daughter, Iris Young and her husband, Terry, of Lexington; one stepson, Scott Lee Hinkle and his wife, Lisa, of Lexington; one stepdaughter, Joy H. Turner of High Point; 13 grandchildren, Jim Davis Jr. and his wife, Lynn, Tasha Davis, Dawn Blankenship, Melody Davis, Justin Young, Stephen Davis, Madison Davis, Ashley Young, Matt Albright, Kyndall Turner, Dylan Turner, Tiffany L. Hinkle and April L. Hinkle; three great-grandchildren, Logan Stewart, Caleb Davis and Bailey Blankenship; and one brother, Luther Davis and his wife, Peggy, of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home of a son, Tommy Davis, 1445 John Young Road, Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 202 Centerport Drive, Suite 100, Greensboro, NC 27409; Dutchman Creek Baptist Church Missionary Fund, P.O. Box 416, Mocksville, NC 27028; or to the donor's choice.
