Stephen Eugene Koontz

March 15, 1949 — October 18, 2016

 Stephen Eugene Koontz, 67, of Lexington, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House.  The funeral will be noon on Tuesday, October 25, at Davidson Funeral Home with Celebrant Jenny Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Salisbury  National  Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday, October 24, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.  Mr. Koontz was born March 15, 1949, in Davidson County, to Hobart Fishel Koontz and Mildred Brewer Koontz. He was a machinist from Lacy J. Miller Machine and a  member of Center United Methodist Church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Yates.  Surviving are his wife, Betty Nichols Koontz of the home; sons, Christopher Clay Koontz and wife Kimberly of Clemmons and Stephen Todd Koontz and wife Suzanne  of Lexington; grandchildren, Gracie, Aiden, Cash, Emery and Ella Koontz; his mother of Welcome; brothers, Larry Koontz and wife Pearl of Clemmons, Ralph Koontz  and  wife Sarah, Richard Koontz and wife Cindy, Terry Koontz and wife Diane, and Kenneth Koontz and wife Donna, all of Lexington; and sisters, Martha Thomason,  Sharon  Temple, both of Lexington, Teresa Bradshaw and husband Robert of Southport, Annette Hicks and husband Butch of Barnesville, Ga., and Mary Everhart and  husband  Gary of Lexington.  Memorials may be made to Hope Cancer Retreat, 26904 Brentwood Road, Spendora, Texas 77372; or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-  Salem, NC 27103  The family would also like to extend special thanks to Dr. Timothy Collins and the staff of Novant Cancer Center.
