Stephen “Steve” Douglas Everhart, Sr. of Winston-Salem passed away at his home Thursday, July 6, 2017. A graveside service will be held at Friedberg Moravian Church at 4:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017, with Rev. Jim Newsome and Rev. Dan Nelson officiating with burial in the church graveyard. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home. Steve was born in Davidson County on February 14, 1947 to the late Walter David Everhart and Ruby Payne Everhart. He had worked with Davidson Water and was self-employed with Triple D Construction Co. He enjoyed farming, fishing and his John Deere Tractors. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Knopf. Surviving of the home is his wife of 51 years, Linda Younts Everhart; sons David Everhart of Lexington, Doug Everhart (Susan) of Linwood and Danny Everhart (Julie) of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Brittany James (Adam), Rebecca Hills (Daniel), Emily Willard (Colby), Michael Everhart (Alex), Brad Everhart, Allie Everhart, Stephen Everhart; four great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lily, Brantley and Noah. Also surviving are sisters: Patsy Ledford (David) and Joan Bailey (Freddie). Memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
