Stephen “Steve” Lynn Mize, 66, of Rebel Lane, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House, following a six month illness.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with the Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Mize was born December 19, 1943, in Davidson County, to Howard Henry Mize and Julia Lanning Mize. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, was of the Baptist faith, a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, retired truck driver for Billings Freight Line. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Eddie Wade Mize, Colon Levens Mize and Howard Vann Mize; and a sister-in-law, Meridith Harris Mize and two grandchildren waiting in Heaven, Teddy Black and Matthew Kirkendall.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Myers Mize of the home; sons, Kenneth Charles Myers and wife, Lisa, Bobby Myers and wife, Angie, Mark Myers, all of Lexington, and David Mize of Thomasville; daughters, Carol Jean Black and husband, Danny, and Jacqueline Prince, all of Lexington; the following five grandchildren were always by his side to hear his jokes, stories and about his adventures; Crystal Davis, Tony Black, Timothy C. Prince, Brock Myers, and Kaylan Myers; three very special great-grandchildren, Justin Davis and Brittany Davis and Brianna Huffman; brothers, Don Mize, Max L. Mize and wife, JoAnn, Clint Murel Mize and wife, Carolyn Sizemore Mize, Bobby Mize and wife, Mildred, Lane Allan Mize and wife, Jill Hodges Mize, and Dennis Craig Mize and wife, Rhonda Parks Mize, all of Lexington; a sister Patsy Mize Coble and husband, Howard, of Sugar Grove; sisters-in-law, Clara Story Mize, Nancy Cox Mize, and Linda Anderson Mize, Margy Anderson and husband, Aden; and special friend, Mike Horne and wife, Debbie.
