Steve Carlton Greer, 65, of Potts Creek Road, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Slack officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m.
Mr. Greer was born May 21, 1948, in Davidson County, to Leland Howard Greer and Mamie Key Greer. He served in the US Army and was an electrician at Smurfit-Stone Container prior to his retirement. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Greer; and sisters, Annie Weaver, Jo Ivey, Jimmie Craver, and Darlene Rickard and Dorothy Craver.
Surviving are son, Carlton Greer of Linwood; daughters, Betty Greene of Linwood, Christy Tucker and husband Jeffrey of Thomasville; step-daughter, Angela Rush of Thomasville; grandchildren, Joseph Greene, Steven Greene, McKenzie Greer, Edward Beaty, Joshua Tucker, Smantha Tucker and Kelli Tucker; great-grandchildren, Emma Joann Greene and Nathan Zane Greene; brothers, Gene Greer of Florida, Jack Greer of Kentucky, Wayne Greer and wife Juanita of Southmont and Charles Greer of Welcome; and sisters, Willie Greer, Martha Phillips, and Debbie Oxydine.
