Steve Hanes

Steve Rayford Hanes, 71, of Lexington passed away on Monday, January 06, 2020 at the Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with the Rev. David Kolb officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Hanes was born in Davidson County on September 2, 1948 to Jackson Holland Hanes and Lois Walser Hanes. He had worked as a dishwasher at Captain Steven’s where he often went by Scuba Steve and formerly worked for his family’s business, Liberty Butcher Shop for over twenty years. Mr. Hanes was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Hanes; a sister, Janice Stone; and a son-in-law, Michael Justice.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Gladys Cagle Hanes; his two precious daughters, Stephanie Justice and Lois Hanes (Billy Deweese) all of Lexington; two sisters, Pearline White and Betty Hargus (David); one sister-in-law, Emily Hanes; seven grandchildren, Johnathon Harris (Jennifer), Austin Justice (Sarah), Christopher Hanes (Ali), Kaitlin Harris, Alexis Harris, Amber Justice and Dalton Justice; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan Harris and Natalynn Harris.
