Steven Edward Applebee

January 8, 1963 — March 18, 2020

Steven Edward Applebee, age 57 of Denton, NC passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21st at Forest Hill Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Mike Hilliard.  The family will receive friends after the graveside service at 452 Courtney Lane in Lexington.

A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Steven was born January 8, 1963 in Lexington (Davidson County) to Vincent Edward Applebee and Linda Hege Applebee.  He was a member of High Rock Church and previously worked as a truck driver for Midway Truck and Trailer until his health prevented him from working.  Steven graduated from North Davidson High School in 1981.  He loved 80’s music, grilling out on his cooker, hunting, fishing, Ford Mustangs and Harley Davidsons.  He was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.  Steven had a talent of creating pencil drawings, a talent that many never knew.  He passed along these drawings to others and they will be cherished for many years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, as he was honored to be called PawPaw.  Those left behind will miss hearing his adventures of being on the road, as well as his truthful advice and opinions.  If you were fortunate to have Steven as a friend, you had a friend for life.  His mother preceded him in death.

Surviving are his daughters, Stephanie and Stacy Applebee, both of Winston Salem; son, Tanner Bowles (Koty) of Winston-Salem; brothers, Michael Applebee (Wanda) of Carolina Beach, Mark Shell (Heather) of Morganton, NC; sister, Amy Bentley (Bobby) of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Mikayla Stallings, Emma Applebee, Easton-Lee Polnisch, Tyler Polnisch, Weston Polnisch, Curtis Emory and Grayson Bowles.

The family wants to thank the many doctors and staff who became close to him through the many years of his declining health, and a huge thank you to Kathy Applebee for remaining close friends with him and his family.
