It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen (Steve) Finnegan Jr., on December 10, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, with the family later relocating to Roanoke, Virgina. The Finman started his 40-year career in radio as a part-time DJ in Roanoke, before moving to Greensboro, North Carolina, in the early 1980s. He has graced the Triad airwaves since then, most recently as the morning show host at WTOB.
Steve is survived by his son Daniel Finnegan and longtime friend Laurann Holder Hooks. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Lois & Stephen Finnegan Sr., and younger brother Daniel Bernard Finnegan. Steve leaves behind sisters Pat Young, Kathy Finnegan, Sue Finnegan Parsio (John), and brother Tim Finnegan (Chris), along with many nieces and nephews.
The Finman will also be missed by his many loyal radio listeners and supportive associates.
Visitation will be held at Davidson's Funeral Home, 301 N. Main St., Lexington, NC 27292, on Friday, December 15th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His internment will happen on Saturday, December 16th, at 11 a.m., at Sherwood Memorial Park, in Roanoke.
