Steven Earl Morris, age 62 of Boones Cave Road, Lexington passed away Tuesday (August 17, 2010) at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral will be 7 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Lanning and Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will be 12 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home. Mr. Morris was born May 15, 1948, in Rowan County to Archie David Morris and Verlie Allen Morris. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. During his service in the army he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. Surviving are his wife, Carrie Blair Morris of the home; sons, Bradley Morris of Mocksville and Michael Morris of Asheboro; daughters, Traci Hennessee and husband, Stacy, of Winston-Salem, and Jennifer May and husband, Robert, of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Josh, Cody, Chase, Dakota, Makenzie and Olivia; two great-grandchildren; special uncle, William Allen; brothers, Robert Morris and Roger Morris, both of Lexington; and sisters, Linda Watts and Donna Gibby and husband, Bill, both of Lexington.
