Steven (Steve) Odell Benson, 71, of Lexington, passed into the arms of Jesus, Monday evening March 24, 2025, at his home after a period of declining health. A celebration of Steve’s life will be at 11:00 am on Friday March 28, at Spruce Street Baptist Church where he was a member since childhood. Services will be conducted by Pastor Caleb Calhoun. Burial will immediately follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends, starting at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the service.
Steve was born October 25, 1953, to George Leonard and Stella Smith Benson who preceded him in death. He was a Master Tech automotive technician and retired from M&L Motor Company after 27 years of service. He served on the deacon board at his church and as the church caretaker, taking great pride in how the church looked and operated.
Surviving Steve are his wife Jane Tysinger Benson of the home; sons Brad Benson (Jennifer) and Jason Benson both of Lexington, and his four grandchildren; Carter, Jacob, Madison, and Olivia. Steve loved and cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed attending any activity in which they were involved.
He is also survived by brothers George Benson (Sharon) and Ronnie Benson (Sindy); sisters Carolyn Lentfer (Rick) and Libby Hege (Dan), all of Lexington as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
