Sue Shoaf Koonts

Sue Shoaf Koonts, 90, of Lexington, passed away peacefully at the Hinkle Hospice House on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Paul’ Chapel Evangelical & Reformed Church with Reverend Aaron Long officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sue was born in Davidson County on July 8, 1929 to Wiley Lee Shoaf and Marjorie Yarbrough Shoaf. She was the wife of the late Lacy Ray Koonts, Jr., and retired as a secretary for Western Electric. Mrs. Koonts was a member of Paul’s Chapel Evangelical & Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; two sisters; and one great-grandchild.

Those left to honor her memory include two sons, Bobby Koonts (Marsha) of Lexington and Stan Koonts (Brenda-deceased) of Winston-Salem; brother, Jimmy Shoaf of Lexington; sister, Jeanette Jones of Lexington; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Hinkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 and Paul’s Chapel Evangelical & Reformed Church, 2791 W. Center Street Ext., Lexington, NC 27295.
