Sue Wilkes

Sue Abernathy Wilkes, 81, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm Sunday at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Pastor David Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 pm at Davidson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilkes was born August 10, 1940, in Davidson County to James Wilber Abernathy and Pauline Lowery Abernathy. She was a member of Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired teacher for Lexington City Schools. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Prentiss William Wilkes; one brother, Wayne Abernathy; and three sisters, Audrey Wafford, Linda Neal, and Martha Byerly.

Surviving is one son, Michael D. Abernathy (Lou Ann); two daughters, Amanda Tillotson (Robert) and Allison W. Harmon (Jason); six grandchildren, Misty Hamilton, Austin Robinson, William Robinson, Dustin Tillotson, Brendan Tillotson, and Anna Hayes; and nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.
