Sula Freedle Wagner died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Hinkle Hospice House. She was born August 1, 1915 to the late China Elizabeth and Michael Freedle in Davidson County. She was a life- long member of Bethesda United Methodist Church participating as a choir member and other positions in her church including secretary in her class and a member of the Quilting Circle. She was the oldest member of Bethesda. She was a strong independent spirit. She lived an active life as a homemaker married to Raymond Bert Wagner in 1933.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1981. She loved to laugh and joke with people. In recent years, she enjoyed taking care of her flowers. She especially enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood and the events of her lifetime – her life centered around family and church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her only son R. Leo Wagner, her sister Beaulah Hankins; brother’s Hollis Freedle, Roby Freedle and Artis Freedle.
She is survived by her daughter Joanne Wagner McLaughlin, her beloved granddaughter Connie McDaniel and husband David McDaniel; two grandsons, Kent Wagner and wife Angie, Shane Wagner and wife Merinda and daughter-in-law Carol G. Wagner; six great grandchildren, Jodie Roten and husband Charles, Luke, Nicole Baine and husband William, Ethan Wagner, Hunter Wagner and Rachel Wagner; and one great great grandchild Addie Mae Baine.
Funeral will be at Bethesda United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2013 with the Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2013.
The family will be at the family home on Ridge Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295 and Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Lane, Lexington, NC 27292.
