Susan Dianne Harris Helsabeck, 50, of High Point passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center.

Born in Winston-Salem to Hugh and Linda Harris on January 29, 1970, Susan possessed a vibrant smile, an infectious laugh, a generous heart, and a fierce love that was protective, kind, and compassionate. She was a fun and encouraging wife, a loving and unbelievably proud mother, a caring daughter, sister, and aunt, and a loyal friend, whose presence will be deeply missed by all she loved. A graduate of North Davidson High School in 1988, Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1993, and Pfeiffer University with a Master of Christian Education degree in 2001, Susan spent the majority of her professional career advocating for quality child care and was currently the Professional Development Specialist for the Randolph County Partnership for Children.

Mrs. Helsabeck was predeceased by her father, Hugh D. Harris. Left to cherish Susan’s memory are her husband, Rev. Oliver Helsabeck, and daughter, Elizabeth Grace Helsabeck, of High Point; mother, Linda H. Harris of Winston-Salem; brothers Bryan Harris and wife Dawn and David Harris and wife Theresa of Lexington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andy and Deborah Helsabeck of Grimesland, NC; nephews BJ Harris and wife Brooke of Lexington, Bruce Harris of Melbourne, FL, and Christopher Helsabeck and wife Jessee of Clayton, NC; and great-nephews and great-niece, Bradley Harris, Breah Harris, Jacob Helsabeck, and Camden Helsabeck.

Mrs. Helsabeck will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30 at the Hickory Tree Chapel of the Davidson Funeral Home located at 858 Hickory Tree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 11461 Old US Highway 52, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 with Rev. Darren Alexander officiating.

Please wear masks and practice social distancing. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the early childhood programs of the Randolph County Partnership for Children, 349 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC 27203.
