Susan Leigh Terry

Susan Leigh Terry, 72, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, October 31 st at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County.

Ms. Terry was born March 9, 1947, in Lexington to Joe G. and Mattie C. Terry.  Her parents preceded her in death.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington.

She is survived by a sister, Julee Terry Cunningham (Calvin), two nephews, Cal Cunningham (Elizabeth) and Jacob Cunningham (Camille) and a niece, Dr. Catherine Cunningham (Michael McGuire) and three great nieces and three great nephews; and a special friend, Bobby R. Norton.

Ms. Terry was a 1965 graduate of Lexington Senior High School.  She attended Lees-McRae College and received a degree in Psychology from East Carolina University.  Her career was spent working in the social services field for the city of Charlotte, for Davidson County Department of Social Services, Forsyth Technical Institute for Adult Occupational Education and Pineridge Health and Rehabilitation Center until the time of retirement.

Ms. Terry was a talented painter.  She enjoyed a hobby of decorative and tole painting and crafts.  For a time she was a self-employed painting teacher in Winston-Salem.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff at Hinkle Hospice House for assistance with Ms. Terry’s end of life care.
