Susie Cross Burris, 97, of Trantham Drive, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 10 at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a faithful member, by the Revs. Brian Rummage and Bill Sosebee. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Burris was born March 17, 1916, in Davidson County to Emanual and Ruth Billings Cross. She was retired from Link-Taylor Furniture. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and friends. She was always giving and sharing with others. She was known for her beautiful handmade baby dresses. She was married to the love of her life, Dee H. Burris. She was preceded in death by her husband; son Ronald Burris; and infant daughter Shelia Burris.
Surviving are three sons, Gerald Burris (Pauline), Carroll Dee Burris (Brenda) and Tony Burris (Elaine); daughter Gail Townsend (Danny); daughter-in-law Diane Burris; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and very special dog Daisy.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Carolina Senior Care for the love and care they gave her. Also, we would like to thank the doctors and staff at Thomasville Medical Center for the special care they gave her during her illness.
