Susie Cross Burris

Susie Cross Burris, 97, of Trantham Drive, died Friday, June 07, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a faithful member, with the Revs. Brian Rummage and Bill Sosebee officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mrs. Burris was born March 17, 1916, in Davidson County, to Emanual and Ruth Billings Cross. She was retired from Link Taylor Furniture. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and friends. She was always giving and sharing with others. She was known for her beautiful handmade baby dresses. She was married to the love of her life, Dee H. Burris, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a son, Ronald Burris and an infant daughter, Shelia Burris. Surviving are three sons, Gerald Burris (Pauline), Carroll Dee Burris (Brenda), Tony Burris (Elaine); daughter, Gail Townsend (Danny); daughter-in-law, Diane Burris; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a very special dog named Daisy. The family would like to extend special thanks to Carolina Senior Care for the love and care they gave her.
