Sybil Katherine Brown

January 23, 1990 — March 4, 2023

Sybil Katherine Brown, age 33 of Lexington was called home to Heaven on Saturday, March 4, following a sudden illness.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday March 12 at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Pastors Cheryl Skinner and Kirk Tutterow officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Sybil was born in Davidson County on January 23, 1990 to Lloyd Gresham Brown and Debby Moose Brown. Despite being born with numerous disabilities that required constant care, this did not impede her from living a happy and joyful life. She attended South Lexington Developmental Center and graduated in 2012 at the age of 22. She then transitioned to CLS, a day program in Lexington for disabled adults.

Sybil was truly a blessing from God and not only brought love and joy to her family but to everyone she encountered. Once you met Sybil, most people never forgot her. She could steal your heart with just a smile. Some of her favorite things were her beads and mirrors and she usually had one in each hand at any given time. She loved to eat her favorite foods, they were chopped BBQ and pizza. She also loved sitting in the recliner with her daddy. Sybil was a social butterfly and loved being around people, especially family and friends and at her day program where she had two special friends, Paul and Billy.

Sybil has had wonderful caregivers over the years but most recently Janine Rankin, Tandra Littlejohn and Bonita Suber, of whom we are so thankful for.

Sybil was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Lawson Brown and Annie Bell Bost Brown, and Ray Moose, also her aunts, Connie Moose Rary and Joyce Brown Peeler.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving parents, Lloyd and Debby Brown; grandmother, Edith Boger Moose; her aunt, Amy Moose Cook (Jeff); her uncles, Johnny Maxwell Brown, Tony Rary, Jeff Peeler and many special cousins, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Special Olympics of Davidson County, 555-D West Center Street Extension, Lexington, NC  27295.
