Sylvia Beck

  Mrs. Sylvia Smith Beck, 89, of Broadus Smith Road, died Sunday, May 28 at Lexington Health Care.    A funeral service will be held 4pm Wednesday at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by Vicar Rob Crawford.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.    The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4 pm prior to the funeral service and other times at the home of her daughter on New Jersey Church Road, Lexington.   Mrs. Beck was born June 30, 1927 in Davidson County to John Broadus Smith and Alice Weisner Smith.  She retired from Beck’s Lutheran Church and volunteered with Davidson County Medical Ministries for 20 years. Her husband, Hoy Smith Beck Sr., preceded her in death.     She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Leonard (Dean) of Lexington, and Janet Wise of Thomasville; her son, Hoy Beck, Jr. (Debbie) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Leslie Norris (Daniel), Randall Leonard (Stephanie), Nathan Beck, and Ben Wise; and her great-grandchildren, Jacob Norris, Katie Leonard, Cody Leonard, Randi Leonard, Lily Wise, and Emery Wise.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 or the Humane Society of Davidson County, PO Box 1791, Lexington NC 27293.
