Sylvia Colon

Mrs. Sylvia Colon, 86, Oakwood Drive, died Tuesday, June 18th at her home surrounded by her family. Sylvia was born on May 28th, 1933 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. She was mamí to three beautiful daughters, Maddy Coppley of Lexington, Maria Velazquez and Marta Colon both of Chicago, Illinois; Abuela to Kristen, Kevin, Mia, Neisure, Rachael, Miranda, and Devon; and Bisabuela to Chayse, Leland, Aaliyah, Max, and Bodhi.

She was known for her kindness, patience, generosity, humor, and strength. She built an open and welcoming home full of laughter and love, was an amazing cook even with the simplest dishes, and knew how to throw a great birthday party. Her advice was kind and honest, her humor was sharp and witty, and her love was patient and eternal. She was the heart of our family and we feel her influence every day. We will love her forever.
