Ted Richardson Beck, born October 3, 1952, in Rural Hall, North Carolina, passed away March 6 at Forsyth Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy R. Beck and Ruth H. Beck of Rural Hall.
Ted graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1970. He attended UNC Charlotte for two years before graduating from Wingate University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. While at Wingate, he was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and enjoyed playing college tennis.
Ted retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation in the Right of Way Department in Winston-Salem.
Ted was a devoted Tar Heel fan and rarely missed cheering on his team. One can imagine that now he may be strolling the streets of gold, still hoping to find Coach Smith.
He found joy in the simple things in life. Ted loved gardening, canning, cooking, and most of all his dogs. He was quite the prankster, always ready with a laugh. Ted had a kind soul and truly never met a stranger.
Ted was one of a kind, He will be remembered for his humor, his warm spirit, and the many lives he touched along the way. Special thanks to Brigetta Gaskins for standing in the gap.
“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
