Tempie Leigh Swing Almstead, 81, passed away on Saturday May 6 2023, at Piedmont Crossing in in, Thomasville, NC. Tempie was born in Lexington, NC on August 4, 1941 to Dallas Crawford Swing and Lucille Morris Swing.
Tempie was active in the Red Hat Society, card making, and was instrumental in creating the Lexington Christmas Clearing House. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Almstead, her parents, and her brother Dallas Ray Swing.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Jeff Swing (Celestial) and her daughter Jodi Crotts Hernandez, grandchildren Kali Swing Kesler (Seth), Dallas Swing (Jennifer), Phillip Hernandez (Kaitlyn), Reid Hernandez (Amanda), and Gray Lackey (Haley), great grandchildren Camden Swing, Celestial Joe, Dock, and Lane Kesler, and Bennett Lackey, her sister Becky Swing Wynn (Clarence”Flash”), sister in laws Rebecca “Cookie” Swing (Joe) and Harriet Almstead Liebel (Mike), brother in law Jimmy Almstead (Lola), nieces Carmen Swing Carrick (Drue), Tara Murphy Young (Steven) and nephew Larry Murphy (Buffy) as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday May 11th 6-8pm at Davidson Funeral Home. A private graveside service will occur at a later date.
