Obituary

Terry Lee Powell, 69, of Lexington, North Carolina, went home to be with his Savior on August 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Terry was born on June 9, 1957, to the late Jacob Levon Powell, Sr. and Freda Mae Garren Powell.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington with pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. at the funeral home 

Terry was, above all, a devoted family man. He cherished nothing more than time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and he built a life centered on love, loyalty, and service to others. Whether hosting family gatherings, cheering on his children and grandchildren, or simply sharing a quiet evening at home, he found his greatest joy in the people he loved.

Known for his unwavering loyalty, Terry was the kind of friend people could always count on. He gave generously of his time and heart, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. His warmth, humor, and steady presence touched everyone who knew him.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Levon Powell, Sr. and Freda Mae Garren Powell, and his brother, Jacob Powell, Jr.

Terry leaves behind his loving wife, Penny Shipton Powell, their children; Shane Powell (Susan), Jeremy Powell, Amber Freeman (Eric), Tim Everhart (Scott), Stacey Yarbrough (Mike); grandchildren; Lindsey Powell, Alex Powell, Connor Freeman, Levi Freeman, Bailey Everhart, Jillian Herring; great-grandchildren, Dexter, Myla, and siblings, Dan Powell (Vickie), Brenda Conner, Bud Powell (Cindy),

Dianne Swing (Bill), Lamar Powell, John Powell (Lynn), Herman Powell (Carrie), Orville Powell (Samantha), James Powell (Catherine).

Terry will be remembered for his devotion to family, his loyalty to friends, and a life spent in quiet service to others. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will carry on through the generations he cherished.
