Thama Ree Snider

Thama Ree Beck Snider, 100, of Davidson County, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 12:45 PM, at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. David Peeler officiating.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 – 12:45 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Thama was born on June 14, 1922, in Davidson County, to the late Zeb Beck and Etta Young Beck. She and her husband had a blackberry farm, and she also worked many years in her nursery and cultivated her own azaleas and camelias. Thama was known as a wonderful baker, her specialty being pound cakes and sugar cookies. She also taught ceramics for fifteen years and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herman Samuel Snider; son, Richard Snider; grandson, Dustin McGuire; great-grandson, Brennan McGuire; brothers, Norman Beck and Raymond Beck; and sisters, Helen Welch and Vergie Jackson.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Joyce Snider McGuire (Gary), of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Krista Maddock (Jason), Kim Miller (Andy), Millie Smith (Jamie), Shannon Snider, and Patrick McGuire (Cindy); six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Sadie, Andrea, Caleb, Jasmine, and Maddie; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
