Thelma Waller Hege

Thelma Waller Hege, 87, of Byerly Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at Hospice House of the Piedmont in High Point. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Revs. Mark Craddock, Wallace Cole and Ed Wall. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Mrs. Hege was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Davie County to Lee Pinkston Waller and Mattie Lou Salyers Waller. She was a nursing assistant at Lexington Memorial Hospital and retired after 38 years of service. Mrs. Hege was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Connie Lee Hege, who died in December of 1975. Surviving are two sons, David Hege and his wife, Evonne, of Franklinville and Larry Hege and his wife, Joyce, of Richfield; two daughters, Rhonda Lee Koonts of Lexington and Linda Applebee of the home; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence Waller and his wife, Peggy, of Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Maple Grove Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 2493 N.C.
